SSIFI presents AMBER in the Center for Biological and Chemical Sciences of the University of Warsaw

Piotr Parasiewicz and Katarzyna Suska from the Stanisław Sakowicz Inland Fisheries Institute (Poland) presented the progress made in the WP2 Impacts of Barriers on Stream Habitats and Natural Capital in the Rivers for Sustainable Development Conference. The Conference, celebrated last 25 th November 2017 in the University of Warsaw, was organized by the "Ratajmy Rzeki Coalition" and the "Science for Nature" movement.

The different thematic sessions tried to involve a wide range of stakeholders and the talks included different approaches such as transport, environment and public use. A representative of the Ministry of Maritime Economy and Inland Navigation (MGMiŻŚ) gave an overview of the development of inland waterway transport in the European Union and explained future investments in inland waterways in Poland, as part of the European Union's transport policy, underlining the special role of environmental assessments and public consultations in hydrotechnical investments.

The event was an opportunity to get acquainted with the views of different environments on the use of the potential of our rivers. Speeches of the speakers confirmed that the sustainable development of rivers concerns a wide range of stakeholders.
