On August 28, 29 and 30th, three floodgates from the Poutes Dam were removed and transported offsite.

On the second day of the removal, representatives from each of the project stakeholders welcomed numerous media for the occasion. This start is part of a larger retrofitting that will better enable fish and sediment passage along the river.

Previously, AMBER partners were involved in the project as consultants to calculate how long it would take fish to travel through a new fish passage system together with a lowered and shorter reservoir. This helped to determine the new dimensions of the reservoir and now, it will take 100x less time for fishes to migrate upstream.
